Hall of Heroes

I have something nice to say about someone.

Many people have been great to me over the years.  Here are a few of the greatest.

Cameron Kendell

Out of all the Art Directors that have graced the hallowed halls of Blue Table Painting, Cameron has easily left the best and deepest mark.  Many of the techniques and materials lists used today are from his tireless and ingenious work.  On top of that, Cameron is a drama-free human, an everyday soul who carries out his life with rock hard work ethic.  I can't say enough good things.

He currently runs his own art studio, writing children's books and sculpting, or whatever.  If only there were more of him in the world!

Rich Kilton
Everyone knows about Rich from BTP battle reports, and our famous Orks vs Eldar rivalry (also known as the Stupid Orks vs Graceful and Intelligent Eldar). But there's more.

During 2015 I was living in my studio, just recently divorced, and I went down to the basement storage and realized that I was just a day away from running out of food.  That same day Rich came by, to visit and check on me and noticed the low supplies.  He came back later with boxes of food. After he left I wept openly.  I would be OK.

That whole year he came a few times a week, ostensibly to shoot the bull about gaming stuff,  but really he kept me alive.  He listened patiently to my long rambles.  Rich truly is that GREAT FRIEND that is there when the chips are down.

Judy and Kendall Barrowes

In the tranquil berg of Spanish Fork, Utah, the community activity and service of the Barrowes is legendary.  I had the good fortune of living in the same neighborhood as this un-assuming yet stellar family.  When we first moved there in 2004, Judy made the mistake of asking if there was anything I needed.  Our home wasn't ready and they ended up taking us in (Myself, young wife, and two littles) for four months.  Who does that?  The Barrowes, that's who.

I mention Kendall because he gave my then-wife a job and gave me free orthodontics.  He gave me my smile.  So, thank you so much.

Many people can put on a veneer of virtue, but if you live with someone for a month the ugly part is going to come out.  We lived with Judy and Kendall for four months and I can say that the virtue goes all the way to the core.  Not perfect humans of course, but they showed me a Way of Being that I had not seen before, that humans can really be good in a natural way.  It set an example of how I would like my household to be.

Many more to come!
