    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So that's the xenos list I came up with. Not too familiar with some of the Dark Eldar wargear, but I know that things like venoms and raiders are quite effective. Not only does the poison help kill troops, but the dark lances and blasters aren't bad at killing tanks. The scourges are more of an annoyance, and their haywire blasters are surprisingly great at glancing vehicles to death. The Archon and his Incubi unit can engage any tough units in combat that the venoms and raiders cannot kill. All in all, it is a pretty well rounded list that features great models, and would make a good studio xenos army :)

Army List- "Fists of Fury" Crimson Fists and Imperial Fists

1850 Space marine list-   Imperial fists/Crimson fist join action list.

Lysander    attatched to  10 man Sternguard squad/w drop pod & 3 combi flamers
(sternguard sergeant/w meltabomb and bolter)

Pedro Kantor    attatched to 6 man terminator assault squad/w land raider Redeemer/w multi-melta
(terminator sergeant/w lightning claws)

2x Tac squads, missle launcher and meltagun/w razorback
(sergeant with melta bombs, bolt pistol, and chainsword)

Landspeeder squadron.   2 typhoon missle launchers, 4 heavy bolters

FLUFF STUFF!:
As a successor chaptor of the Imperial fists, the Crimson fists come to the aid of their founding chaptor.     Pedro Kantor himself leads a detatchment of sternguard vets to the aid of his brothers.    Together they shall destroy all foes of the imperium!
Color scheme is obviously Imperial fists yellow and crimson fists red and blue.   Sternguard, drop pod, pedro, and double HB speeder painted in crimson fist scheme.  Everything else in Imperial fists yellow.

Combat Strategy:
Lysander in pod with sternguard come down on turn 1 and try to get within rapid fire range of a hard target.   His bolter drill ability makes the whole squad twin-linked so your gonna be potentially pumping out 20 twin-linked shots that wound on 2 againgst high toughnest models or have AP3/4/5ignores cover.        opponent will have rough time charging them on following turn due to the 3 combi flamers and lysander.

the 2 tac squads split up.   The two 5 man missle launcher 4x bolter squads sit back in a ruin ,which thanks to lysanders bolster defences gives them a 3+ cover save.    They just pump out missles till turn 5 when they start moving towards objectives in backfield.
The other 5 men including sergeants and melta gun move up in their razorbacks towards key objective or vehicles that need to be destroyed.

Pedro starts the game standing behind the LR out of line of sight and pops off Orbital bombardment turn 1.   Turn 2 he jumps into raider and they proceed to move flat out towards important target (i.e. enemy HQ or deathstar)     LRR can still fire multi-melta or flamestorm cannon even on flat out move due to PotMS.    If possible, they head towards lysander and the sternguard to back em up.

This is my core army and my favorite list.    I hope to one day get you guys to paint it for me personally and am looking forward to seeing more excellent work from you guys.

Eldar Jetbike (compatible) Canopies in progress

Got a local sculptor working on this.  This is the first prototype and already discarded in favor of a sleeker design.  Pics hopefully forthcoming for that.

http://epochstudioz.weebly.com/work-in-progress.html

In my Eldar army I've got 18x jetbikes coming plus three warlocks on jetbikes.  I think that will form a solid mobile core and very easy to deploy.  Jetbikes can turbo-boost 36" for a total move (if I do not err) of 12" plus 36" plus 2D6" (assault phase move) which is ridiculously mobile.  The entire army can completely re-deploy getting pretty much anywhere it wants.

The Big Leap

I recently read a great book called The Big Leap.  It's about overcoming mental barriers and living in your Zone of Genius.  Two main topics.  The book posits that you have kill switches in your mind that will trip when things are going too good for you.  Yes, too GOOD.  And that your subconscious will swing into action and make sure you get knocked down to where it's comfortable and safe.  Sound familiar?  It is written in an easily digestible, yet challengingly simple format with key questions to ask yourself.  One is to identify things that you may have accepted as truth (usually at a very young age) but are actually false.  A false premise that forms a kill switch.  For example: "I can't be successful because I will outshine my siblings which will make them feel bad." or "I can't be successful because I will be disloyal to my family tradition and the teachings of my parents." (eg make do or do without).

My first pass I woke up at 2am, my conscious mind still not in the driver's seat (I think this is called a hypnogogic state) and just intuitively wrote the answer on a piece of paper.  What keeps me from allowing myself to be successful?  The answer: "They're better off without you."  I wrote it in big letters on a piece of paper and went back to sleep.  This is just a theory really, what popped out of my head.  But those things can be powerful.  When I was young I decided that those around me would be better off if I erased myself from the equation.  My relatives remarked and observed that I was a good child, didn't cause any trouble, but was withdrawn.  It was a lie that I accepted as truth.

Now, as an adult and running a business I theorize that my "poltergheist" self (the part of my sub-conscious that protects me and causes problems to do it) doesn't want the business to grow past a certain point because at any second the crew will realize they don't need/want me and I will be left to run things on my own.  Important note here-- this is not my rational conscious mind that is thinking this.  Consciously, I very much want BTP to succeed and provide opportunities for the people that work there and bring awesomeness to the world.

So I turned the paper over and wrote the opposite, the new programming which I am choosing to accept: "They are all better off because of me."  I then created a new image for my vision board with a caption saying: "Shawn, you are important and everyone is better off because of you."  This might seem silly because I reach out to many thousands of people with happiness and encouragement every day.  But isn't that irrationality for you?  I now look at that image many times a day and let the new truth sink deep into my mind.

This all ties into a much larger quest for me which is to understand myself and the world around me and in so doing change my own consciousness and thus also my prevailing reality.  And it's working in this case.  I've found myself even more relaxed around all the people in my life.  This constant lifelong tenseness, a sense that at any second the bottom could fall out, is giving way to a wellspring of faith and confidence.

Is this too personal for a blog post?  Probably, but someone out there may be having a similar challenge.

Peanut Butter Bars

Hello you few people who actually frequent this blog.  Thanks for coming.  Right now at this instant it's 2:15am.  I got home from work around 6:00pm last night to find my requested dinner (steak) waiting for me.  Actually, there was still some flank steak left over from Valhalla so that was awesome.  With some mushrooms and cantaloupe.

Things are better than ever at home.  Since I started my vision board, and I mean really putting a lot of mental effort (well, it's more like mental fun really) into it, plus raising my happiness level in a practiced way every morning I'm just a new man.  I'm open to new things.  I am ready to go camping with the family.  I want to be near my wife, I want to be close to her, I want to communicate better.  I'm more inquisitive rather than judging.  I am asking questions.  How can I be a better husband (Tamie gave me a list, and I must admit that I actually laughed out loud at one of the items).

I've read some really good books recently:
  • The Jackrabbit Factor (a digestible version of law of attraction)
  • Ask and it is Given (brilliant, and worth reading six times)
  • The Big Leap (major breakthroughs here)
  • Change Your Questions, Change Your Life
New Gately-isms
  • Hold still, I'm trying to bless you. (What Providence is saying to me now)
  • Snowflakes don't need to be directed where to fall.  (Just let it happen)

Stuffed, and beaten down with the heat of the day, and general exhaustion from the week (like I work really hard right?) I just got home and collapsed.  My son Griffin (8 years) came in wanting to play some Pokemon and I was really just tired and wanted to rest.  But my policy is "I always have time for my kids" so I had him set up the mat next to the bed and I just played him like that.  He had a good time like kids always do.  He shook my hand and thanked me for the game.  His sportsmanship is really improving.

At this moment I am still working off a succession of huge meals.  This must be what a python feels like.  I got up, took a shower, scrubbing my body thoroughly, and drank a lot of water and put on some of my favorite relaxing music.

I think it's the peanut butter bars my wife bought two nights ago.  Those things are so heavy.

This last week I've been working with Kellie on the webstore, which has been a challenge to get it set up right, but once it's done it will be a work for the ages.  Kellie is new to the company and is a delight to work with.  We are both very expressive and quick with an off-hand comment.  Can't describe it better.  For example, if I pass by her desk she will sometimes narrow her eyes and track me.  If I make eye contact she says "I'll kill ya".  Definitely a character in the show.

As for wargaming, I got my Eldar out to assembly over the weekend, so those will be ready to paint on Monday.  The azure High Elves are mostly painted and are due in this coming Wednesday so this next week is going to be a good week for Shawn.  I'm hoping to get in a game with the Eldar with upcoming Friday.  Oh, man that's exciting.

This last weekend we spent an entire day as a family catching up on like two years of yard work.  We cleared the weeds, hauled off the oddball lumber, and got the sprinkler system up and running.  Today my wife and I will be replacing about six sprinkler heads.  I really love family life, the entire family working in one place.

The back porch is still a travesty.  I painted it last year, cleaning and priming for prep, but all that paint just flaked off come spring.  It killed my heart to see it.  And the hot tub is still in a state of disrepair, we don't even know if it can be revived.  It would make me so happy to see it in good condition again, the family out there playing around.  I can see it in my mind.  An immense sense of satisfaction overwhelms my entire being as I step into the world that I created...

Ork Army on the Block

This is an army that was traded in (not painted by BTP) but we give it the once-over for repairs and some touchups.  We also added two highly converted battlewagons and some extra lootaz.  We also magnetized some weapon options on the vehicles.

See pics and purchase info here.

Road to Valhalla

A friend of BTP is on his way to August Valhalla.  Check out his blog documenting his preparation.

Bright Stallion

Some of you may remember this from the Eldar days of yore.  I think this reincarnated is the Wraithknight.

Necrons vs New Eldar

Article by BTP fan Karl.

See more pics of that sweet Tau.

Looking at the new Eldar codex tells me that Necrons are going to struggle to counter strengths within the Eldar, mainly the psychic side of things. This is because the tomb spider upgrade (variation) doesn't cut it, that area of affect is just not enough (6 inches if you don't know off by heart). Granted all Necrons have armour saves, but the combination of psychic powers and specialist troops (I'm looking at you Banshees, spiders and dragons) make it almost unbearable for Necrons.

Note: It would nice if they added to mind scarabs by giving the wearer and attached unit benefit from psychic immunity or shielding.

Even the C'Tan shards will be hard pushed. If they could take more than just two spells (as well as having better spells) would be great. However, as they are C'Tan shards can make do with holding up an Avatar for the majority of the game - if they get lucky and kill, great. Otherwise that knight will knock down any shard in three to four turns, brutal.

Necron players have to rely more than ever on their royal courts to do battle with their nemesis. Then there is the problem of the big two slots for HQ's you want or need. There really isn't that many that give you [the necron player] the flexibility needed to change the force organisation chart to an advantage (as seen with space marine chapters and Eldar themselves). Necrons HQ's would do greater if they allowed for expansions in force slots like elites. Say if you take the stormlord you can have 4-5 elites slots, if you take a HQ that is more on the tech side of things they enable you to have stalkers in heavy support as well as elites. Or if you took someone like Obyron you could have Lythguard as troops, heck if I took a destroyer lord let me convert lythguard into a special outfitted version of destroyers. Things like that, I would like to see in a new codex to help and over come the limits of the Necrons. Otherwise Eldar craftworld combos are going to steam roll Necrons.

Necron players outter their think and think hard now when you face the Eldar.

Oceanic Eldar are coming back

It's time for the return of the Oceanic Eldar, here's what I have coming:

1x box Wraithguard plastics
1x box Eldar Rangers
20x Dire Avengers
6x Eldar Jetbikes
1x box Eldar Guardians
1x Eldar Farseer (new plastic kit)
4x Fire Prism
2x Eldar Fire Dragons boxes
1x Crimson Hunter
1x War Walker Squadron box
1x Wraithknight
3x Eldar Support Battery Weapon

If anyone can trade in some stuff, that would be great.  Even if not on the list.  I think it's going to get out of hand.  Yay!
