Undead and Corsairs
Stuff I ordered for studio yesterday:
6x Eldar War Walkers
I have a bunch of stuff from Forge World on order. It's a 2500 pt army. The Walkers is all we needed.
1x Mantic Zombie Regiment
1x Mantic Ghoul Regiment
2x Mortis Engine
2x Terrorgheist
3x Boxes Skeleton Warriors
2x Boxes Hexwraiths
1x Vlad on foot
1x Krell
1x Wight King
1x Necromancer
1x Cairn Wraith
1x Tomb Banshee
2x Boxes Crypt Horrors
All heroes need to be current ed. plastics or finecast.
I have a ton of undead already painted up and we're going to sync those (some of the bases are varied). The plan is to make 100x zombies and 50x Skeletons as the base blocks of hordes. The rest is icing.
The stuff we already have, that's going to be incorporated are:
10x Dire Wolves
20x Ghouls
20x Skeletons
50x Mantic undead infantry (might mix these into the zombies)
So, that's quite a start, 100 models right there. I've been looking over the Vampire Counts books and I think the strength of the list is in the masses of undead (duh). I mean, let's say I had two blocks of zombies, eighty strong, or even a hundred. That's a whole game spent hacking those apart. Talk about board control. Even smaller units of twenty could just hold a much larger force up for a turn or two. I plan on melting some piles of corpses with the heat gun.
As a side note, a fan introduced the idea of having a personal army, not for sale, and to really really learn that army. I wonder what I will do?
I'm thinking Beastmen for Warhammer Fantasy. Yes I know I just wrote a whole thing about Vampire Counts, but while they are fun for a while, and the current hot army I want to play something that bleeds and can run away. And I love underdog armies. Plus I've never done that particular army before. Very interesting.
For Core = 6x Chariots based on the mournfang kit, two beastmen riders on them.
50x Ungor Raiders
Fun Stuff
But who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with the Vampires.

Ring Ring x4 + Banana Phone
Sarah's birthday party was last night. I was too tired to make it. I've been up early these last few days, and I just head to the studio. I bow next to the sleeping form of my wife and pray to God (that guy I met) for His provident hand upon my endeavors.
My wife went, though, and I stayed home with the kids. They are a delight. We had Thai food. Pad Thai with peanut sauce, and sushi (yes, I know, not Thai). I love pad thai. I just can't get enough.
One of our hamsters died. And the other hamster started eating the carcass. Apparently they are tidy creatures and will eat their dead to keep them from rotting. My twelve-year-old daughter was freaked out upon finding a dessicated hamster head attached to a mostly dried, bloody rib cage and spine. The man of the house (me in case you were wondering) had to take it out. Now we don't know what to do with the other hamster. Is it diseased? Or bloodthirsty? We have it quarantined for the time being.
My wife got home super-late. I was worried for a minute there.
I was up early this morning. My lovely wife asked me to pick up Bountiful Baskets, a local farm co-op where we get our food and produce in a weekly allotment. It was last second. I had fourteen minutes to get dressed and get down there. On the way I realized I was about to run out of gas so I stopped and put in $20, wolfed down a Snickers. I was the last one for pickup at the elementary school, they were waiting up for me. That was nice. So, we're set for the week.
First thing back home my wife made a monstrous veggie omelet and the whole family just dug in on one plate. I spent the morning in my jammies with the boys playing Starcraft 2. I love that game and I'm not letting it go! It counts as family time now.
Down at the studio we got an office phone. For eight years I carried the company cell phone with me, and directly answered all calls. It's gotten to be too much the last few months. Not that I don't love talking with clients because I do. If you are a regular and you want my direct line you can still get that by emailing me.
Here's how it works. You call the regular studio phone (801 372 8545 that has not changed, it is I who have a new number) and it rings downstairs and upstairs. The first pickup happens in Inquiries/Ordering (currently Renn and James), if they don't pick up in a few rings it automatically goes to the Front Desk. If they do not pick up it goes to my personal cell phone. It is important to us that you get a response and you are likely to get a pickup between 8am and 8pm.
And lastly, your Ron Paul fix for the day. There is a reason why people are excited about Ron Paul. It's not just him, it's the message. For some, like me, it was the first time someone explained to me what freedom really means. He is my Morpheus. He taught me to read and write. He cured me of my apathy.
Ron Paul is the founder of a movement. He is a transcendental figure and you would do well to at least understand.
If you are involved in the Republican primaries and would like a copy of Ron Paul: the Revolution (reference to the American Revolution, self-government) please contact me as I have six copies to give away. bluetablepainting@gmail.com

Bill of Rights and the NDAA
The Declaration of Independence, penned by Thomas Jefferson and celebrated on the 4th of July each year, proclaimed that "all men are created equal", "endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights", and "That to secure these rights Governments are instituted".
The Constitution implemented the political philosophy of the Declaration, by setting forth some of the rights of man, and then by restraining government from violating those rights, with the Bill of Rights.
What are some of the rights the Constitution restrains the government from violating? (And by principle, "all" people should have these rights protected from government infringement.)
The right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty (presumption of innocence)
The right to trial by jury (access to judicial due process)(Bill of Rights Amendments 5 & 6)
The right to legal counsel (i.e. the right to have a lawyer) (Bill of Rights Amendments 6)
Note also that the Constitution specifies "Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act or on Confession in open Court." (Article III Section 3)
If Constitutional, this law would have given unprecedented power to President Obama.
Mitt Romney - Said he supports the controversial provisions of the NDAA (source: January 16, 2012, Fox News GOP Presidential debate in South Carolina http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Ron Paul - Opposes the controversial provisions of the NDAA and has introduced legislation to repeal them (http://paul.house.gov/index.
Newt Gingrich - Has not publicly opposed. (http://thenewamerican.com/

Day at the Beach
Willow decided that she wanted to go to the beach. This is as close as we could get; turning the bathtub into a little swimming pool. She even had me put sunscreen on her little arms.
Bonus material: Willow in the packing peanuts.
The kids out shoveling the walk with their uncle.
Willow found a pair of glasses in the tithing slip box at church.

Myth of the Robber Barons
Part of the narrative we are fed from birth is that there were large, evil looming corporations that would have run rough-shod o'er the peasantry if the gallant Government had not interceded. I don't believe that. More likely, government and corporations got into bed together and under cover of night...
ran rough-shod over the peasantry.
And now a bit about monopolies.
Is there such a thing as a government-created monopoly? Is that kind more or less hard to dislodge than a monopoly that comes to being in a truly free market?
And here's your Ron Paul fix
This is an amazing speech.

Back to 98.6
Hello all! First off a word of encouragement. If I could go back to past-me I would tell him to not worry so much. All the things that I was worked up over, even a few months ago, turned into a lot of nothing. That's not to say that I wouldn't have just got to work. That's the key. Don't fret, just roll up your sleeves. I find it helpful to actually write things down on a piece of paper. Problem-solution.
I went home early on Saturday, feeling a little under the weather. Just a bit of a sinus infection I'm pretty sure. I had my wife neti pot me, give me medicine and cook me up some chicken noodle soup. She patched me up.
I spent some time working up the Eldar Corsairs army list. 2250 pts approx as follows:
1x Corsair Prince
6x Shadow Spectres
18x Voidstorms
40x Corsairs
6x Wasps
2x Hornets
2x Nightwings
2x Warp Hunters
The problem is the cost. Good grief it's $7 per special weapon just for the forge world upgrade kits and $4 per model for the standard models to get the lasblasters/jetpacks from FW. It's like $800. I'm going to look at conversions options tomorrow. I suspect that the Dark Eldar range, combined with regular Guardians should do it nicely.
In this army all the infantry have jet packs. This is different from jump packs. Jet packs give the relentless rule which means they can move and shoot heavy weapons. For the standard ten-man units of corsairs they can have two missile launchers. I think this is the one for me. The points are pretty hefty for those jet packs and so it is definitely a finesse army. My concern is that it's like most of my Eldar armies: a whole lot of shooting but no close combat. It makes me sad. Harlequins in Venoms? No way around it: Eldar are small in numbers.
I played a lot of Starcraft 2. It's definitely a point of connection between me and my boys nowadays. Also, I finally beat the computer on Insane. Protoss (me) vs Terrans. Cannon rush. The AI didn't know how to deal with that. Taking a look at a problem in a new light.
I put up a new vid this week on gatelymusings. I have a second one, but I'm not sure I want to post it. Actually, now that I think about it I absolutely must put it up. Title = Social Security as intergenerational theft. It's inflammatory.
Speaking of which, I showed up at the church to help set up chairs (late) and a brother called me out saying "just like a Libertarian, showing up late". He was just ribbing me, naturally. However, it did start a running conversation for about ten minutes. I don't even know where to begin with this one. I did have two insights, though, as I give it consideration.
#1 Correlation. Apparently I'm the only one who has actually read a book by Ron Paul. I'm also the only one with a Ron Paul yard sign up. Am I the only one in my neighborhood? What I suspect is that most people only give superficial consideration to politics. They listen to the radio, read the paper, or watch TV and consider themselves informed. But those mediums are just regurgitations. You got to crack a book.
I think I need to go out door to door and see if I can find someone else of like mind. Solution, read a book
#2 People assume I'm a Libertarian because I support Ron Paul. It's false logic. Ron Paul is a libertarian. Shawn supports Ron Paul. Ergo, Shawn must be a libertarian. On further reflection, the truth is that I'm a Constitutionalist. Over the weekend I read the libertarian platform, and re-read the Utah republican platform.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc?
In other amazing news, I finished Patriots and Pineheads by Bill O'Reilly. Not a fan of Bill. But you got to give a man his due and crack a book. I took careful notes. I will be making a video book report on that. Most startling insight: Bill's take on the treatment of prisoners of war by George Washington.
Family life is wonderful and simple. Willow runs around in her princess dress. Griffin absolutely loves his black camo sleepers, but one of the feet blew out so I just cut off both at the ankles. He was happy again. Such a simple thing. I ate three eggs for breakfast: soft boiled with butter, salt and pepper. Absolutely yummy.
Followup. That sewage pipe leak at that building down the street? That got fixed and the building is back to smelling normal. Just a day later. See, things are going to get better soon. That's a false correlation by the way. What does the sewage pipe have to do with your life?

Tremors
Friday.
In the last week a charity thrift shop has moved in across the way from us (not connected to our building at all, physically). Today, a backed up sewage pipe busted in their basement. It was bad. I went over to help move their stuff out of the way and dispose of ruined items.
I didn't get around to any batreps. I had a lot of inquiries, for which I am grateful. I hope to finish the Skaven v Ogres batrep. I need to read up on the Skaven book. Time to dust off my Orboros, too.
It is now 4:51am. Right around 4:30 am there was a small tremor shaking the house.
I spent a lovely evening at home with the kids. I do love them, and my darling wife, ever so much. Life is good.
