If you take the total gross income for an average city in the US (adding up the gross income of all the residents), what percent of that goes towards interest? Any guesses?
Khorne-ly Army List
A client sent me this email, thought you all might get some insight:
fyi, here's my newest tournament list for 1750...thought you might find it fun.
.
1. I know the standard tournament form has plague marines on objectives, berserkers clearing the way, obliterators and lash princes to rearrange the enemy and deal with them. I honestly don’t have a problem with this per say, but I would rather go for a more fluffy army that is still compeditive. As has been said, having been the guy on the other side of the table more than once, The lash combo works, but only so far. I also don’t like going with lists that can be reasonably expected by my opponent and prepared for.
.
2. I’ve sunk a fair amount of change into making this army work and have become rather stuck on a fluffy khorne/berserker army. The more aI read, the more feedback I get the more the army appeals to me.
.
3. I’ve revised the army with the understanding that it isn’t the ideal chaos army but there’s a good bit of synergy and redundancy as well as fluff. What I’d say to those against the dreads is that in a normal army I wouldn’t give them the time of day. The thing is that the world eater list that is both dreadnaught heavy and defiler heavy is unique in that the entire army is focused on getting to combat, meaning that even if the enemy hits one of the 4 heavy walkers or two, a few of them are getting to the enemy. Even if they don’t then 3 squads of berserkers with Kharne will. Either way I win. I did decide, both because of points and theme to go with 2 close combat weapons though to limit fire frenzy.
.
Here’s the new list:
H.Q.
Kharne the betrayer
.
Troops:
8 demons
8 berserkers, icon, champ, powerfist.
8 berserkers, icon, champ, powerfist, Rhino.
8 berserkers, icon, champ, powerfist, Rhino.
.
Elites:
Dreadnaught, extra close combat arm, extra armor
Dreadnaught, extra close combat arm, extra armor
.
Heavy Support:
Defiler, 2 close combat arms
Defiler, 2 close combat arms
Land raider, demonic possession.
.
I really want the terminators, but this list is better than anything I’ve been able to come up with at 1750 with them in it.
.
At 2,000 I’ll add a 10 man unit of chaos space marines, mark of khorne, flamer, champ, powersword, rhino.
.
When we hit 2500 I’ll add a 10 man unit of terminators with 2 heavy flamers, each with a chainfist, a champ with a chainfist, and mark of khorne, plus some other random upgrades for the army.
.
Having some actual games under my belt now in fifth and having been to a tournament, I’ve found that close combat is just head and shoulders more decisive than shooting, and more effective. Sadly, I love shooting, but with the profusion of ways to generate or magnify cover saves, my old favorites, plasma cannons and lascannons just aren’t what they used to be. I’d do a iron warriors list with vindicators and doom siron, Obliterators, lord, terminators, troops and some raptors/bikes, but it just doesn’t call to me. This army feeds my resin addiction and will look good, and might give me a shot at winning a tournament or two, certainly better than my eldar finish.

Note about Forge World
I'm making a Forge World order today.
If you want to commission a Forge World piece you can get free Express shipping if you piggyback. But you'd better get to me right quick about it.
I do FW quotes on an individual basis. I charge a premium for assembly. These models are waaaay harder to put together than most people realize. Things you wouldn't even imagine.
I will usually give three quotes: one for wargamer standard (I think FW figures deserve more love than this), an L4 "extra love" option (recommended), and then higher levels. If you give me an idea of what you're after that helps.
PS- a GREAT way to get an immediate response from me is Google Chat (bluetablepainting). I sometimes don't notice the permission request (which you need to get initially) so it's good to send an email concurrent with that.

Pre-dawn
Right now I'm up at 4:44am.
I've been up for over an hour and a half. I've been watching Galaxy Quest. Good thing I left my Magic cards at the studio, I have been able to get pretty much caught up on my webwork, though I do have 30 minutes of Morning Show footage to edit and put up.
Now my wife is up with the baby. Two of the older kids are up in our bed. It's like a little can of sardines up there. Not like that every night. We are watching Eleventh Hour, one of her favorite shows.
Baby Willow is healthy and happy. She is a contented burbly little pod. She's an "easy" baby. Just happy to be along for the ride.
Here's the deal with Friday. Tamie took the kids to the Aquarium up in Salt Lake. She's a really good Mom that way. The kids get a ton of life experiences. I was at "work" all day. I had a huge load of projects to work through and made good headway. The Thunderhawk project is almost completely assembled now.
It was ward temple night. Quite a sublime experience. I'm glad I went. There's always that resistance just before; to take the easier course.
We are slightly underbooked for March. There is still one golden slot open for the 30/30 special (which I am now expanding to include Warriors of Chaos and Vampire Counts). There are six slots left for March overall. If I got all those filled up today I think I would turn a back flip.
The studio is like a six-piston engine. Everyone is working harmoniously. The talent on board right now is through the roof-- each one dedicated to the craft.

Speaking of Red Food Coloring...
[I got this email from a client. It refers to a vid we made of us eating Chinese food.]
I was watching your new video and thought I would share a fun yet disturbing food fact about red food coloring.
The next time you get something with red food dye look on the back. If ithas the word "CARMIN" on the back guess what you are eating.
This is no joke it is for real.
It is a dried red beetle. They dry the beetle then grind it in to a powderthat turns food red. Simulating cherry, strawberry, raspberry, etc.
It is commonly used on yogurts, candies, and by the evil overlord of fast-food. McDonalds "CURSE YOU MCRIB"
Just thought you might find this interesting..

Out and About
This is a commander from a Tau army in white and red. While the main color of the army is white, this is inverted for the HQ. I think this would be a very handsome color for a Tau army.
I took a day off today. A rarity to be sure. I went to my daughter's school for a presentation she was making, then off with the boys to get our hair cut. So, I'm looking pretty clean-cut.
Then various errands and returning home. I am still catching up on my emails. I will be putting in a solid day tomorrow for sure.
I have given up on Twitter for the time being. It's enough that I do this blog update each day.

I am failing to see how Twitter is better than just the Facebook "what are you doing now" thing, so I'm going with that for the time being.

Chomping at the Bit
.
I got up around 7am and spent at least three hours without anyone else getting out of bed. It was calm and quiet. Sausage and eggs and cheese for breakfast. My wife is using a local farm co-op to get some amazing food, a whole box of it for cheap. She got a few bundles of asparagus. That's good stuff and brings back a lot of good memories of Oregon. It grows wild in the orchards there and we would go out as a family on the weekends to pick it.
.
I visited my home teaching families today, which is always an uplifting experience. It's great to get interwoven with others lives, to strengthen the community.
.
Then off to church. Just the older kids today. Tamie is still staying home with the baby, to reduce exposure to various bugs. We had a substitute Sunday School teacher. She was really something else, so engaging and down to earth.
.
As usual I have a lot of things on my mind, but I'm afraid it's creeping up on 11pm and I'm just going to call it a night.
.
I have a hard time expressing religious/spiritual ideas because all the words I might use are already loaded with pre-conceptions.
.
Is there a downside to life? Not really. I'm grateful. The kids are a joy. Exasperating sometimes, but toootally worth it.

Jobs not Work
I was watching the Rachel Maddow show* and they were mocking some guy for saying that government projects don't create jobs but rather just creates work. Rachel and her guest could not believe it and didn't seem to understand his logic (are they really incapable of grasping this?). To me, what Michael Steele said makes perfect sense.
I picked this up off a related thread, and I think it provides some valuable insight:
One difference is that when you choose to buy something you support the business with your money. When the government chooses to buy something, they support the business with your money. They make the choice, not you. Another is that businesses get paid for a product or service, governments collect taxes. Government has to continue to collect more and more taxes to continue paying. Businesses increase products, prices, etc to continue paying and providing future benefits.
There was a House committe on small business jobs not long ago. Small businesses provide more jobs, make money, and pay taxes. I sincerely doubt most small business owners are rich. Some are truck drivers, some work from home, some have small store fronts. Many small businesses are moving towards bartering more, so they may not need your handout. The government may just have to learn to do without the taxes however. The underground economy may grow even if the US economy doesn't.
At least as far as educators the jobs will likely not go away, they will create future debts for those states. So expect the states to continue hitting up the tax payer for both salaries and benefits as well as retirement for the educators.Whether you see it or not the problem with government jobs is that they are paid for by the tax payer. So if the jobs stick around our taxes go up, up, up.
The only thought I would add here would be that the government does have a role in creating infrastructure for business and "life" to take place. IE roads.
However, I have also noticed that every time I speak out against over-taxation the protest is "what about roads, police, and fire-fighters?" Which is of course improper logic. I'm not talking about those things (which are mostly paid for locally-- not at the federal level). I am talking about maintaining Empire, and excesses at the federal level.
Don't think I like the republicans so much either. Those half-wits** blew through money like drunken sailors for eight years. Literally blowing it up on the desert sands. [sarcasm on] Oh, but now they're taking a stand against waste. Wouldn't want to spend it domestically. [sarcasm off]
In my opinion they have lost the moral high ground. Another party will have to take up their banner.
*I voraciously consume all sorts of media from both sides of the aisle. I think they are all bought up by the Powers that Be, the Bankers. Debate is an illusion. What is real is that a HUGE chunk of the net income/work/productivity of any given household/city/country is going into the pockets of people who do not work nor produce nor (in many cases) even invest money they have earned.
What I do love are independent sources. I am a huge fan of Ron Paul. I still have his 2008 presidential run sign out in front of my house. I don't plan on taking it down.
** I was going to say "ass-wits" or "jack-wipes" but that seemed bit non-sensical.

Valkyrie Pictures
The Valkyrie is not yet on the GW site, so to me that means release in April, maybe May with the general IG release.
I can't believe how good this kit looks. I am amazed that they made a Stompa. I wonder what is next. Here are my predictions:
First, the things that are made will coincide with the release of new armies. I've heard that Space Wolves are coming out later this year, but I can't imagine what kit would come out for them on that same scale.
I'm going to take a stab and say the next large kit will be a Tyranid type. Those are some of the hottest FW items.
Here's the rumored release schedule from http://www.warseer.com/ .
Jan ---- Ork Stormboyz, Nobz, Gretchin, Battlewagon, and Characters
Feb --- Lizardmen
Mar-- - Apocalypse stuff Stompa/Shadowsword
Apr --- War of the Ring
May ---- Imperial guard
June --- Empire Greatswords, Archers, and Steam Tank (+ some LotR stuff)
July ---- Planet strike. Not Space Wolves. Not Missions book.

Extraordinary Times call for Extraordinary Measures
You can be sure that when you hear that phrase that the little guy is about to get worked over. Of course, this is nothing new.
Here are two opposites, presented for your consideration.
The first is an address put out today by Ben Bernanke, the Federal Reserve Chairman (?). I should note that the "Federal" Reserve is a private organization.
1)
2) I tried to look up a certain book on Wikipedia and it is notably absent, but I found this article:
Griffin enrolled in the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado.[16] He became a Certified Financial Planner in 1989, and described the U.S. money system in his 1993 movie and 1994 book on the Federal Reserve System, The Creature from Jekyll Island.[1] This popular book[17][18] has been a business bestseller;[19][20] it has been reprinted in Japanese, 2005, and German, 2006. The book also influenced Ron Paul during the writing of a chapter on money and the Federal Reserve in Paul's New York Times number-one bestseller, The Revolution: A Manifesto, which recommended Griffin's book on its "Reading List for a Free and Prosperous America".[21]
The title is his depiction of a November 1910 meeting at Jekyll Island, Georgia, of seven bankers and economic policymakers who represented the financial elite of the western world.[22][23] The meeting was recounted by Forbes founder B. C. Forbes in 1916, and recalled by participant Frank Vanderlip as "the actual conception of what eventually became the Federal Reserve System".[24]
Griffin argued against the debt-based fiat money system on several grounds, stating that it devours individual prosperity through inflation and it is used to perpetuate war. He also described the framework by which central bankers have been observed to underwrite both sides of an ongoing war or revolution.[25] Griffin says that the United Nations, the Council on Foreign Relations and the World Bank are working to destroy American sovereignty through a system of world military and financial control, and argues for United States withdrawal from the United Nations.[10]
Edward Flaherty, an academic economist[26] described Griffin's description of the secret meeting on Jekyll Island as "conspiratorial", an "amateurish take on history" and "highly suspect".[27] Griffin responded to Flaherty's analysis on his website by stating that Flaherty has grouped the book with other publications and has effectively labeled any criticism of the Federal Reserve as the result of a conspiracy theory.[28]
Griffin's dreams of a free-market, private-money system superior to the Fed caused economist Bernard von NotHaus to deploy such a system in 1998. Griffin states that von NotHaus's private silver certificates, known as Liberty Dollars, are "real money".[29]
Here is something I came up with about the book. I have not made my way through it entirely.

Time = Money = Less Stress
Most people don't realize how hard you guys work, you know. It's only when you get out there and get a dozen or so figures and it is time to assemble and paint that you go: OH, NO, HOW WILL I EVER FINISH THIS? That's why the service you guys offer is so cool. Within a month, you can go from wanting to have an army and playint to HAVING A BEAUTIFUL ARMY that's table-ready!!!
That's worth a lot of peace of mind, and TIME!!!
Cheers, V.

Dwarfs (jan 2001)
Vampire Counts (apr 2001)
Dark Elves (jun 2001)
High Elves (jan 2002)
Skaven (mar 2002)

Tomb Kings (jan 2003)
Lizardmen (may 2003)
Beasts of Chaos (aug 2003)
Bretonnia (feb 2004)
Ogre Kingdoms (jan 2005)
Wood Elves (aug 2005)
Dwarfs* (mar 2006)
*redo
Note that the last couple of books were written when the 7th edition rules were almost completely done and so they work much better under 7th edition than most other 6th edition armies. For that reason they are not very likely to get an update at all in 7th edition and will more likely be redone in early 8th edition.
7th edition
The seventh edition of the rulebook was published in september 2006 and like the change from 4th to 5th edition, going from 6th to 7th changed relatively little. All army books remailed useable, though naturally some things became more or less useful than they were.
Army books released so far during 7th edition
Orcs & Goblins (oct 2006)
Empire (jan 2007)
High Elves (nov 2007)
Vampire Counts (mar 2008)
Daemons of Chaos (may 2008)
Dark Elves (aug 2008)
Warriors of Chaos (nov 2008)
Upcoming known army books (in order)
Lizardmen (feb 2009)
Skaven (july/august? 2009)
Beasts of Chaos (late 2009 / early 2010?)
Tomb Kings (late 2009 / early 2010?)
Army books just behind the horizon (order not known)
Ogre Kingdoms (early 2010?)
Bretonnia (first half 2010?)
Note that releases more than a year away are always subject to change (though this does not happen very often), so we can only know things that are reasonably close for certain anyway.
8th edition
At the moment it looks like 8th edition will hit us medio 2010, with a release schedule probably similar to what Warhammer 40K had in 2008 - a new rulebook in july(ish) and a new starter set in september(ish). Most army books will have been released by that time, the starter set will be four years old (common lifespan for an edition of the core games is 4 years) and GW will likely want to put out a new, fresh one to attract new customers and tempt the veterans with deals that are "just too good not to get, even if I don't play either of the two armies". It is important to understand that new editions are primarily made to keep the excitement about the game high and NOT primarily about balancing anything. So expect rule tweaks to make the game more immersive and intuitve first and foremost.
The starter set will almost certainly include two set starter forces, quite different from each other. It will most likely be one "goodie" and one "baddie". The odds of it being Orcs & Goblins versus Empire are quite high.
Wild suggestions that will certainly crop up are:
- all existing army books will be invalidated (rubbish)
- Warhammer might switch to a D10 system instead of D6 (rubbish)
- the turn order might change from I Go, You Go to some kind of integrated system (rubbish)
- the game background might change dramatically, with the Empire being conquered by Chaos or something similar (rubbish)
These things always turn up when a new edition is underway and should be regarded with a healty dose of skepticism.
Army books or projects far off or uncertain
Dwarfs (early 8th edition?)
Wood Elves (early 8th edition?)
Chaos Dwarfs (GW "will develop them when we will have the time to, and resources")
Dogs of War (no plans to develop them)

A Testimony Vibrant and True
Ensign, August 2005
.
By President Gordon B. Hinckley
.
We often sing in our congregations a favorite hymn, "An Angel from on High," whose words were written more than a century and a half ago by Parley P. Pratt. 1 They represent his declaration of the miraculous coming forth of a remarkable book. Exactly 176 years ago this fall that book was first being set in type and run on a press in Palmyra, New York.
.
It is inspiring to learn how Parley Pratt came to know of the book about which he wrote the words of this hymn. In August of 1830, as a lay preacher, he was traveling from Ohio to eastern New York. At Newark, along the Erie Canal, he left the boat and walked 10 miles (16 km) into the country where he met a Baptist deacon by the name of Hamlin, who told him "of a book, a strange book, a VERY STRANGE BOOK! . . . This book, he said, purported to have been originally written on plates either of gold or brass, by a branch of the tribes of Israel; and to have been discovered and translated by a young man near Palmyra, in the State of New York, by the aid of visions, or the ministry of angels. I inquired of him how or where the book was to be obtained. He promised me the perusal of it, at his house the next day. . . . Next morning I called at his house, where, for the first time, my eyes beheld the 'BOOK OF MORMON'—that book of books . . . which was the principal means, in the hands of God, of directing the entire course of my future life.
.
"I opened it with eagerness, and read its title page. I then read the testimony of several witnesses in relation to the manner of its being found and translated. After this I commenced its contents by course. I read all day; eating was a burden, I had no desire for food; sleep was a burden when the night came, for I preferred reading to sleep.
.
"As I read, the spirit of the Lord was upon me, and I knew and comprehended that the book was true, as plainly and manifestly as a man comprehends and knows that he exists." 2
.
Parley Pratt was then 23 years of age. The reading of the Book of Mormon affected him so profoundly that he was soon baptized into the Church and became one of its most effective and powerful advocates. In the course of his ministry he traveled from coast to coast across what is now the United States, into Canada, and to England; he worked in the isles of the Pacific and was the first Latter-day Saint missionary to set foot on the soil of South America. In 1857, while serving a mission in Arkansas, he was shot in the back and killed by an assailant. He was buried in a rural area near the community of Alma, and today in that quiet place a large block of polished granite marks the site of his grave. Incised in its surface are the words of another of his great and prophetic hymns, setting forth his vision of the work in which he was engaged:
.
The morning breaks, the shadows flee; Lo, Zion's standard is unfurled! . . .
The dawning of a brighter day Majestic rises on the world.
The clouds of error disappear Before the rays of truth divine; . . .
The glory bursting from afar Wide o'er the nations soon will shine. 3
.
Parley Pratt's experience with the Book of Mormon was not unique. As the volumes of the first edition were circulated and read, strong men and women by the hundreds were so deeply touched that they gave up everything they owned, and in the years that followed not a few even gave their lives for the witness they carried in their hearts of the truth of this remarkable volume.
.
Today, a century and three-quarters after its first publication, the Book of Mormon is more widely read than at any time in its history. Whereas there were 5,000 copies in that first edition, about 5,000,000 are currently distributed each year, and the book or selections from the book are available in 106 languages.
.
Its appeal is as timeless as truth, as universal as mankind. It is the only book that contains within its covers a promise that by divine power the reader may know with certainty of its truth.
Its origin is miraculous; when the story of that origin is first told to one unfamiliar with it, it is almost unbelievable. But the book is here to be felt and handled and read. No one can dispute its presence. All efforts to account for its origin, other than the account given by Joseph Smith, have been shown to lack substance. It is a record of ancient America. It is a scripture of the New World, as certainly as the Bible is the scripture of the Old. Each of these volumes of scripture speaks of the other. Each carries with it the spirit of inspiration, the power to convince and to convert. Together they become two witnesses, hand in hand, that Jesus is the Christ, the resurrected and living Son of the living God.
.
The Book of Mormon narrative is a chronicle of nations long since gone. But in its descriptions of the problems of today's society, it is as current as the morning newspaper and much more definitive, inspired, and inspiring concerning the solutions of those problems.
.
I know of no other writing which sets forth with such clarity the tragic consequences to societies that follow courses contrary to the commandments of God. Its pages trace the stories of two distinct civilizations that flourished on the Western Hemisphere. Each began as a small nation, its people walking in the fear of the Lord. But with prosperity came growing evils. The people succumbed to the wiles of ambitious and scheming leaders who oppressed them with burdensome taxes, who lulled them with hollow promises, who countenanced and even encouraged loose and lascivious living. These evil schemers led the people into terrible wars that resulted in the death of millions and the final and total extinction of two great civilizations in two different eras.
.
No other written testament so clearly illustrates the fact that when men and nations walk in the fear of God and in obedience to His commandments, they prosper and grow, but when they disregard Him and His word, there comes a decay that, unless arrested by righteousness, leads to impotence and death. The Book of Mormon is an affirmation of the Old Testament proverb: "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people" (Proverbs 14:34).
.
The God of heaven spoke to these people of the Americas through prophets, telling them where true security could be found: "Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ" (Ether 2:12).
.
While the Book of Mormon speaks with power to the issues that affect our modern society, the great and stirring burden of its message is a testimony, vibrant and true, that Jesus is the Christ, the promised Messiah, He who walked the dusty roads of Palestine healing the sick and teaching the doctrines of salvation; who died upon the cross of Calvary; who on the third day came forth from the tomb, appearing to many. Prior to His final Ascension, He visited the people of this Western Hemisphere, concerning whom He earlier had said, "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd" (John 10:16).
.
For centuries the Bible stood alone as a written testimony of the divinity of Jesus of Nazareth. Now, at its side, stands a second and powerful witness which has come forth "to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations" (Book of Mormon title page).
.
As I indicated earlier, at this season exactly 176 years ago the first edition of the Book of Mormon, which had been translated "by the gift and power of God" (Book of Mormon title page) was being set in type and run on a small press in Palmyra, New York. Its publication preceded and was a forerunner to the organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which took place on April 6, 1830.
.
We studied the Book of Mormon in Sunday School this past year. Nonetheless I offer a challenge to members of the Church throughout the world and to our friends everywhere to read or reread the Book of Mormon. If you will read a bit more than one and one-half chapters a day, you will be able to finish the book before the end of this year. Very near the end of its 239 chapters, you will find a challenge issued by the prophet Moroni as he completed his record nearly 16 centuries ago. Said he:
.
"And I exhort you to remember these things; for the time speedily cometh that ye shall know that I lie not, for ye shall see me at the bar of God; and the Lord God will say unto you: Did I not declare my words unto you, which were written by this man, like as one crying from the dead, yea, even as one speaking out of the dust? . . .
.
"And God shall show unto you, that that which I have written is true" (Moroni 10:27, 29).
Without reservation I promise you that if each of you will observe this simple program, regardless of how many times you previously may have read the Book of Mormon, there will come into your lives and into your homes an added measure of the Spirit of the Lord, a strengthened resolution to walk in obedience to His commandments, and a stronger testimony of the living reality of the Son of God.

Valentine's Day
When you don't see anything on the blog, it means that there is a lot going on.
Here's a summary:
Saturday was Valentine's day. My wife and I went out with her sisters and their husbands. We all get along ever so well.
We went to Rodizio Grill which is a Argentinian type steakhouse where they come around with all sorts of meat on skewers and cut you off a chunk if you want. Alligator, boar, pork, steak, and so forth. Sort of like Noah's ark gone wrong.
God: ding! Billy Bob, what happened to all the animals?
Billy Bob (Noah's lesser known cousin-- in redneck accent): Weeeell, we was gettin' a little peckish ya see...
Then off to a local playhouse for some wholesome entertainment.
That was quite a night.
On Sunday we had over relatives and friends for a lunch-type thing. At church we gave Willow a name and a blessing. Afterwards, sitting in the pew, I cradled the sleeping baby girl in my arms for about a half hour, just looking at her admiringly. It felt like everything faded away and we were alone inside a giant egg of peace and tranquility.

Lizardmen of the Topaz Temple
It's official, the studio Lizardmen army is underway. Here's what's in it:
Slann Mage Priest (we are going to incorporate new Engine of the Gods parts on this) x1
Scar Veteran x1
Skink Priest x1
Skink Priest on Stegadon Engine of the Gods! x1
Saurus Warriors x20
Skinks x24
Skink Scouts x10
Kroxigors x3
Temple Guard x20
Stegadon x1
Barbed Razordons x3
I have plans on converting up a Tetto'Eko, too. I think he is outstanding. The ability to re-arrange 1d3 friendly units after deployment is outstanding. I think it's a game-winner. Nevermind that it seems like a really fun model to make.
We've got everything in and being assembled except the Razordons. We are working on color scheme. The skinks are already done. Some of you may recall that I painted up 34 of them for my D&D game last year, using them as Kobolds. That's a nice head start.
All told the army is 2500 points. So, it's plenty big.
The major decision was to include a Slann Mage Priest instead of an Oldblood on Carnosaur. Of course, you don't need a huge old Carnosaur with all those Stegadons running around. They are harder to kill than a Giant. I guess we'll see the army in action soon enough and find out what's what.
On another front, I'm painting up another unit of Black Guard for my ice elves army. I can't wait to take them for a spin.
Book your projects for March now. I'm running a really good special and there are still some slots left for that (see 30/30 special below). We would just love to do some Tyranids especially.
You might remember "Hive Fleet Hades", a refurb army that we have now sold off. I got some really good feedback on that army list-- shooty and hitty. Doing that army again, that same list, but maybe a different color scheme would be a dream project.
A little-known fact: I am available by appointment to create armies. I will help you set everything up over the phone, including advising on all aspects you want. The whole thing can be underway by the end: instructions, concept, models ordered, and deposit paid. I can type everything for you.
I am a demon on the keyboard.

Ogre Freaks
Many years ago I converted and painted this Ogre Kingdoms army of grotesque monstrosities for my own amusement. Now a good friend of mine is selling it.
Look at the freak show.

30/30 Special
Here's the special I'm running for projects booked for completion in March 2009. Projects need to be set up ahead of time, so this special will run from today until the slots are filled up. Project would need to get set up during February. There are six slots open for this special. I will announce when they run out.
You should ask for the special by name. That way I know how much business is generated by it.
For the following armies you can get 30% off on materials and 30% off on painting if you give Artistic License*:
- Cryx
- Legion of Everblight
- Tyranids
- Necrons
- Vampire Counts
- Lizardmen
- Orks
- Eldar
- High Elves
- Dark Elves
- Wood Elves

Song of the Day (stuck in my head)
I started listening to Devo when I was in junior high. My 7th grade class book had a picture of a computer with this caption: "Computers: wave of the future or passing fad?"

Imperial Guard Rumors and Opinion

General info
Release Rumoured to be 2 May 2009.
Rumoured to include at least 2 waves of releases. It is unclear when the second wave will appear.
The following pic is from the March WD and confirms some of the rumours below including Orders, New Ratlings and the Valkyrie.
http://warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=52118&d=1234148406
Rules
Army-wide Special Rules
Doctrines
Doctrines have supposedly been replaced by Platoons options, so for example, rather than Armoured fist squads a player would buy Chimeras for a whole platoon, or buy the whole platoon grav-chutes to give them deep strike, or drop the heavy weapons from squads and give the platoon Scout. No details on exactly what upgrades are available have emerges as yet. This system would allow “crusade” style armies of multiple regiments.
Another rumour says that there will be multiple flavours of Platoon with varying rules and options, such as Heavy Platoons, the squads will have the option of taking up to three heavy weapons teams; Assault Platoons, able to take up to three assault weapons; Stealth Platoons possibly able to infiltrate. It is not clear if this was based on a proper rumour or mutant wishlisting.
This has been given some credence with catdubh posting the following:

Also told Heavy Weapons squads are now 10 men not six and that the rumour of all squads in a platoon being able to take 3 Heavies per squad is not quite right. Instead a Heavy Weapon Squad can be attached to a platoon. Very similar but as to which one is correct we will have to wait
Orders
reds8n broke the news on Orders with the following:

.... and one that in affect puts the platoon onto overwatch.
Orders are given by Officers to a squad (note not the whole Platoon) within command radius or via Vox channel. Orders generally make a squad do something such as make them better shots, rally, or recover from things like pinning or gone to ground. These orders are not automatic and will probably require a Ld test.
Orders will be one or maybe two orders per Officer per turn, and it is assumed Platoon Officers will only be able to order their own Platoon whilst army Commanders will be able to order anyone. This has not been confirmed.
Some rumoured Orders include:“TAAAANK!!” which allows the squad to add +1 to penetrate armour for a turn of shooting.
"Front Rank Fire, Second Rank Fire" which allows the squad to shoot twice to represent your men firing in well timed volleys to increase rate of fire. This is probably just Lasguns.
Overwatch would supposedly allow them a round of shooting during the enemy’s shooting phase at the cost of not shooting and assaulting next turn (effectively going to ground).
I have been told the Orders system works a bit different to how it is currently rumoured above, but wasn’t able to get clarification yet.
Miscellaneous
HQ
OfficerCan reportedly be upgraded for x-amount to get Storm Troopers as Troops
Primaris PsykerApparently able to blast tanks with a psychic power. No further details have emerged as yet.
Commissar Lord Early on was rumoured to allow Stormtroopers as Troops choices. This has since been debunked. Newer rumours say he is described as having lots of inspirational powers (possibly fearless) and will supposedly allow more freedom in selecting Commissars for other squads.
Inquisitor and Retinue Very early rumours pointed to an entry for IG as an HQ choice, which would supposedly appear much like the elites from the current Daemon Hunters/Witch Hunters books. There has been no recent mention of this however.
Commissars Are supposedly now squad upgrades, technically allowing a lot of Commissars to appear in an army. Rumours now say they are allowed to attach to “certain squads”, However once a Commissar Lord is taken they have more freedom and there can be more of them. They are also supposedly cheaper (almost half their current price).
GGM007 also offered the following from a GW Manager:

Master of the FleetRumoured to allow some type of orbital bombardment, details unknown.
AstropathSupposedly has a 'predicting' ability, possibly similar to Sicarius's ability to re-roll "seize the initiative".
Artillery Officer. Rules unknown.
There are apparently a few other things that you can give the Command Squad to affect the army. No further details are available as yet.
Elites
StormtroopersThe assumption has been made based on the WIP Stormtrooper mini that Stormtroopers will be able to take shotguns this has since been refuted, with the new rumour being they are for WH Arbites-style Stormtroopers.
You can supposedly have a Storm Trooper Squad/Platoon as a Troops choice (not clear if this means both or one of), but this is reliant on an upgrade to the Officer leading the army. They may also get to pick from a list of mission 'operations', such as outflank, deepstrike etc. They may be able to infiltrate if not transported.
Bestiaparda offered the following:

Yeah, but what will they cost? This sounds quite powerful ifi you ask me. Of course, people don't take Thousand Sons that often.
This has been confirmed by one of my Ninja who said that AP3 "hot shots" for Hell Guns will be in there, but wasn’t sure if it was a permanent thing. He gathered it's more likely going to be like the Dire Avengers’ Blade Storm skill.
OgrynsRumoured to be T5 with a 4+ save and Feel No Pain. Further rumours said EITHER T5 or FNP will make the final cut, but probably not both. More recently rumoured to be 25 pts, S5 T5 A3 Sv4+ Furious Charge.
Sniper SquadsCan supposedly infiltrate, get stealth, range finders and all models in the squad have sniper rifles and BS 4. A new rumour says they will also get camo cloaks.
Veteran Squads Have been rumoured to become upgrades to platoons rather than Elites choices and may work like Ork Ard Boyz in that you may upgrade one unit in the whole army. Although a newer rumour says they probably won’t be upgrades for platoons.
Troops
Imperial Guard PlatoonsPlatoons will supposedly be structured as follows: 1 command squadPlus up to 5 of the following taking into account specific limitations -2 - 5 infantry squads0 - 5 heavy weapons squads (this is suspected to be a typo)0 - 2 special weapons squads0 - 1 conscript squadThe entire platoon with all these squads will only take one Troops selection in the FOC.
Platoons are rumoured to be able to attach sentinels, chimeras, and hellhounds as support vehicles, but not demolishers as previously thought.
Platoons will supposedly benefit from a special rule called "Platoon Drill" which grants the ability to ignore any other squad within the Platoon for the purposes of determining the enemy's cover save. What this means is that the Guard squads will get a cover save when being shot at through a squad in the same Platoon, but their enemy will not get one when the squad shoots back. This will supposedly only work if the Vox network is still intact.
Platoons have been rumoured to have a great number of options available to them including attaching various support vehicles like sentinels, hellhounds and demolishers. They still take up a FOC spot, but become part of the platoon and so will benefit from “Platoon Drill” and other Platoon-wide rules rule. Platoons are rumoured to be able to merge into one big unit (sort of the opposite of Space Marine combat squads). So for example the platoon HQ and all its squads can merge into a single unit to hold an objective. Some more rules are probably applied to this but no further details have emerged forthcoming.
Kill Points for Platoons have been ruloured to be 1KP per half of the Platoon killed. More recently, this has been rumoured to be 1 KP for the entire Platoon, although there is some conjecture about whether Officers will yield a further KP. This could possibly be related to the ability to merge the Platoon into a single unit, thereby giving up a single KP.
There has been much talk about a point decrease to 4points per Guardsman. This has also been rumoured to be 50 point Infantry squads (10 men with Sgt, Heavy Bolter & Flamer). Another rumour says the basic squad load-out will be 10 Lasguns or 9 Lasguns and a Laspistol for 40 points.
Heavy weapons teams will supposedly be required to be on large bases. It is assumed there will be some sort of rule making HW Teams a single 2W entity, like a Space Marine Attack Bike. Nothing has been rumoured on this yet though.
Conscripts Originally rumoured to be a Troops choice that didn’t take up a FOC slot and come with a command squad of a Commissar and three teams of Heavy Bolters. The Heavy Bolter team guns them down the conscripts if they break adding bonuses. This rumour has been refuted by several sources. Other rumours say conscripts will disappear altogether, or remain only as “naked” Platoons.
Penal Battalion50 pts. 1 Custodian and 9 Penal troopers. Ld 8. Rifle and close combat weapons. Scouts, Stubborn, "Desperate". No news on what the last Special Rule may entail.
Transports
Chimera 55 pts. 12 10 10 Tank, Amphibious, Mobile Command Vehicle. Multi-laser, hull Heavy Bolter, searchlight and smoke launchers. Options: Upgrade Multi-laser to Heavy Flamer or Heavy Bolter - free; hull Heavy Bolter to Heavy Flamer - free; Storm Bolter or Heavy Stubber +10pts, Hunter-Killer Missile +10pts, Dozer Blade +10 pts, Extra Armour +15pts, Camo Netting +20pts.
Valkyrie Skimmer. 24" move. Troops may disembark at any point in its movement, but more than 12" and they take a dangerous terrain check. Was rumoured to allow embarked troops to deploy after deep striking. Another rumour says they will be able to DS more accurately like Drop Pods. It was originally rumoured to only be a transport for Stormtroopers, but more recently it has been said it will be available to all units that have access to Chimeras.
Fast Attack
SentinelsWill be available for both Fast Attack and HS slots, with the slot determining the weapon and upgrade options, as well as special rules. Fast Attack Sentinels will retain Scout, but only have the option to be open topped.
Hellhound12 12 10 Tank, Fast. Inferno Cannon: 12" Template, S6 AP4 Heavy 1 (like the previous version but there is no roll to hit and no partials, but reaches 12").

Banewolf12 12 10 Tank, Fast. Chemical Cannon: S1 AP3 Heavy 1, Template, Poison (wounds on a 2+ to targets with a Toughness stat).
Valkyrie (possibly Valkyrie Vendetta)The “up-gunned” version of the Valkyrie is rumoured to be a Fast Attack Choice called the Vendetta. There is much speculation about this.
Heavy Support
Spearhead Sentinels Heavy Support Sentinels will supposedly lose Scout, but will be enclosed, have slightly better front armour and have options for heavy weapons such as the Plasma Cannon.
Leman Russ Can reportedly be bought as a squadron so you can get 3 for a single FOC. It is unclear if this is a true Vehicle Squadron, or a three-to-a-slot situation.
Russ’ have been rumoured to cost 150 points with increased Sponson cost, so a LR will supposedly cost 180 points with 3 HB.
They have been rumoured to come with a hull heavy bolter, smoke launchers and searchlight as standard.
Leman Russ Battle Tank14 13 10 Tank. Battle Cannon.
Leman Russ Exterminator14 13 10 Tank. Exterminator Autocannon: Heavy 4, Twin-linked.

Minis
First Wave rumoured to be as follows (US$):
The green of the Commissar Lord can be seen here:
http://warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=41307&d=1214001137
New Ratlings have supposedly been spotted and have cloaks and hoods.
The new Sentinel box is rumoured to have all Heavy Weapon options including at least a Plasma Cannon, as well as the Armoured Crew Compartment bits in the box.
The Cadian Command Squad Boxes will supposedly include all the special weapons in plastic (1 of each), 3 different officer heads, several different close combat weapons (Swords, Fists etc), various embellishments, 2 suits of officer armour, one more practical one more dressy, and 4 Cadians with a few new/special heads. Also said to have a “Drill Instructor style” underarm swagger stick.
The Valkyrie will be different from the FW version, but not hugely. A CAD picture of the interior can be seen here:
And this is supposedly the full thing:
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIjdnLRg_jkw6yTUkEoUxMx3dnQrEvb-aEThuCeTWbCKKpzXR_IpDrkM2jB7pcDWTx1yZNfDahJi66KgNvp-cnqTOS7tm8SjvePPnSMDPCD5LKPuO9eokoNPWwuAlSNrhZypRLJ9d9ezna/s1600-h/IG+Valkyrie+copy.jpg
The Cadian and Catachan Boxes are most likely 10 man sets with a heavy weapon included. Nothing has been said about whether the box will include multiple heavy weapon options, or if individual heavy weapons sets will be withdrawn. The Catachans are rumoured to be a slight improvement in sculpt more in line with the recent Heavy Weapons team than their original incarnation and will have scaled down arms.
GGM007 has dished the following info from a Manager:

There will apparently be a Direct Only blister with the three advisors: Master of the Fleet, Master of the Watch (Artillery Officer) and Astropath.
CAD drawings of some tanks have been spotted but it is not clear if these are simply concepts or if they are in production. The CAD picture of what is thought to be the new Hellhound (the Devil Dog) can be seen here:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=51588&d=1233353300
Apparently the Leman Russ box will include parts to make LRBT, Demolisher, Vanquisher, and Exterminator. The Chimera box will have parts for 3 other variants (including Hellhound). The Basilisk box may come with parts for Medusas and Griffons. They don’t seem to be included in the first wave.
CAD Images of what is believed to be the Leman Russ Executioner Turret and possibly the Griffon or other Heavy Mortar can be seen here:
http://warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=52171&d=1234206422Plastic Roughriders in the Cadian style have been rumoured. They will supposedly be in the “1.5 wave”A WIP Stormtrooper with shotgun (assumed to be Plastic) has been seen. It is unclear when or if this will be released. It doesn't appear to be in the first wave, but is rumoured to be released with an “Inquisitor supplement oriented around Planetfall”.
Ogryns will not be getting new models just yet
There have been rumours of Greatcoat plastics for some time, but these have been consistently shot down by those “in the know”. Despite this, it seems quite a few GW managers are reporting that plastic Greatcoats are in the pipeline, possibly even as soon as 2nd wave. They will supposedly make Steel Legion, Kreig, and/or Valhallans, which some people believe to be a sign the rumour is untrue, as the look of those regiments would need to be drastically altered to create them all from one kit.
